GHDC’s efforts to support development of a community based on our intergenerational model in Washington, DC, continue to advance. With the support of a planning grant from DC Child and Family Services Agency, GHDC is working with a range of expert partners to plan and launch Genesis, which is being developed by Mi Casa, Inc.
Genesis will serve young mothers aging out of the foster care system and their children. The first community of its kind in the nation’s capital, Genesis is scheduled to open this October.
Genesis is currently recruiting senior residents and a small number of families not connected to the foster care system to live alongside the aging-out families. All adult residents at Genesis will commit to service and being good neighbors. For more information, visit the Genesis website.
